第七课:请问去天安门怎么走?
Lesson 7: Could you tell me how to go to the Tian'anmen Square?
1. 的
In "一些给我侄子的礼物" (yì xiē gěi wǒ zhí zi de lǐ wù, gifts for my nephew) words before "的" is to describe and restrict "礼物"(lǐ wù, gifts) instead of showing the possessive relationship.
2. 下
"下(xià)" here means "to get off/disembark" and "上"(shàng) is the opposite, "to get on/board". Here you should pay special attention to meanings that are different from what we learned before. "上"(shàng) and "下"(xià) before meant "上一个"(shàng yí gè, last one) and "下一个"(xià yí gè, next one).
3. 车
"车"(chē) generally refers to "a form of transportation" (but not subway, lightrail, or train—these forms of transportation usually have their specific names) but when used alone, it usually means "car". In the following ways you can see that the transportation tools are different.
1) 开车(kāi chē)—to drive a car
2) 坐车(zuò chē)—to take/ride a bus or a car
3) 骑车(qí chē)—to ride a bike/motorcycle
4) 打车(dǎ chē)—to take a taxi
